National Information
Delta Phi Omega Sorority, Incorporated was founded on December 6th, 1998 at the University of Houston, Texas. Sixteen women from various backgrounds came together with the common goal of uniting women among the South Asian community. The Founders created the backbone of this sorority on the basis of the five pillars of Sisterhood, Respect, Loyalty, Honesty, and Friendship. They envisioned an organization that would highlight the diverse Indian culture through participation in community and social service projects.

CHILDRENS EDUCATION AND LITERACY
Delta Phi Omega Sorority, Inc. is steadfast in its mission to transcend the traditional notions of a sorority by utilizing the power and passion of our sisterhood. This mission is put to action in every charter and chapter across the United States, creating a collective force of positive social change on both the college campus and surrounding communities. Through our commitment to service, the sisters of Delta Phi Omega Sorority, Inc. reach beyond the spectrum of university life, and actively remain connected to the world around them through proactive efforts of human progress.
While the sisters remain active in a range of philanthropic services, the sorority’s paramount objective is to bring awareness and continual support to an often overlooked cause: children’s education and literacy. The children of today are tomorrow’s leaders, but without the skills to unlock their potential, the door to a successful future remains shut. By ensuring each child – regardless of race, religion, or creed – receives a quality education and the power to read, we give them the keys to a limitless future.
Supported Beneficiaries:
Philanthropic Efforts:
LITERACY THROUGH UNITY WEEK:
Every year, we hold an annual “Literacy Through Unity” Week, which is a series of events dedicated to raise awareness about children’s education and literacy. It also aims to raise donations and funds to give to local charitable organizations affiliated with each corresponding chapter or charter, as well as to one of our national beneficiaries which we choose every year. Sisters nationwide help put together Literacy Through Unity Week at their respective chapter or charter to bring communities as well as students together
BE THE CHANGE:
Be The Change is a national annual day of service coordinated to inspire and foster civic engagement and stronger communities through volunteerism and community service. Be The Change has been an opportunity for South Asian Americans and their allies to engage in collective public service activities that lead to deeper civic engagement, collaboration and unity in localized and national spaces.
